Portfolio:
A portfolio is not required; however, students with an art background may prefer to send a portfolio of artwork as part of the application to Providence College. We prefer a digital portfolio on a CD/DVD, with 10 – 20 images formatted as JPEGs (or you can put them into a Powerpoint or PDF). File size of individual images should not exceed 1MB. The images should represent your best recent work (jr/sr year is best) in any medium. If you have a few examples of drawings done from observation (not from photos) we like to see that, but it’s not required.
This collection of images may be placed in a plastic sheet of film slides or on a CD, and is attached to the application dossier or sent separately to the Admission Office.

Junior Year Abroad:
Providence College accepts degree credits from a number of colleges and universities that offer courses at foreign campuses. Typically, students majoring in the Art & Art History Department and choose to study abroad do so in the spring semester of the junior year. For complete information, please contact the Center for International Studies at pcabroad@providence.edu .
Summer Classes/Evening Courses:
Summer and Evening courses in art related subjects are offered on campus by the College’s School of Continuing Education —check with the Department Chair about availability.
In addition, the College will accept summer course credit from other colleges and universities if the course in question has been pre-approved before enrollment by the Dean’s Office and the Department.
Tours:
If you are interested in taking a tour and spending the day with the Department of Art and Art History please contact Janice Dilustro, administrative assistant, in Hunt-Cavanagh Hall.
